SEMBLANCE

Typeface

Semblance is an experimental typeface that originated from a project involving the attributes of anonymous individuals in our class. For this endeavor, I selected the characteristics of refined memory and structure associated with my assigned person. This unique typeface creation process melds typography with human traits, resulting in a font that reflects the distinct memory and structured quality of the chosen individual.

As Semblance evolves through the alphabet, each new letter is positioned ahead of the preceding ones, forming the complete typeface within the letter Z. I've crafted three distinct variants of Semblance, each presenting varying levels of legibility to viewers. The "Full" variant displays the typeface as a solid shape with each occurrence, representing the most intricate version but not as readable within continuous text. "Partial" maintains the complex strokes of each letter, with the selected letter overlayed in a distinct color, enhancing readability. Lastly, the "Solo" variant strips away the memory element, presenting each letter individually, detached from the context of prior letters. This trio of variations underscores diverse levels of legibility and design complexity, showcasing the versatility and creative exploration within the Semblance typeface.
