ULTRAVIOLET

Typeface

Drawing inspiration from the fond memories of nostalgic candies, fizzy beverages, and the playful typefaces of cartoon TV channels, Ultraviolet takes shape as a dense and curved design. What sets it apart is the consistent use of miniature counter forms within each character, providing a unified and distinctive look across the typeface.

In Ultraviolet, every character adheres to the same width and height, which presents a unique challenge when creating a typeface as expansive as this. This constraint has notably led to the similarity in appearance between characters like B, D, and P, as well as E and G. These resemblances are a direct consequence of the rigorous constraints that limit the space available for each stroke within each character. To address this, I opted for a minimalist approach in designing these characters, ensuring they remain recognizable in their lowercase forms while working within these boundaries. This delicate balance between maintaining cohesion and ensuring distinction has contributed to the distinctive identity of Ultraviolet.
